Bartel Beham
One of the outstanding representatives of the generation of painters that followed Dürer. When he was banished from his hometown in 1525 because of his sympathy for the Reformation, he went to Munich and entered the service of Duke Wilhelm IV. The painter, who was also valued for his copper engravings, soon became the preferred portrait painter of the Munich patriciate. He died at the age of just 38 on a trip to Italy that he had taken to perfect his art.
